Spring

I made both of these while sitting at the park with the kids. I put all of my favorite "springish" beads together and just started putting them together. I was originally going to make a necklace but it didn't look so good. Guess I better stick to meditation beads. The one with the leaves is really perfect for holding.

Home

This was my first foray into actual jewelry. I wanted to make a simple bracelet for a friend who is moving away. I used gold eye pins and strung each bead and made a loop and connected them together. It wasn't as hard as I thought it would be and turned out pretty neat. I also really love the clasp...it's a rose shaped magnet. Very easy for putting on by yourself!

Rosary

So my friend who taught me about meditation beads invited me over for a little "beading party" this week.  As we all sat together and the creative juices started flowing I decided I wanted to try my hand at a rosary.  This is what I came up with.  I like the flat bead idea for a Rosary.  It really seemed to come together.  I think I would like to find a better three way connector...maybe a really nice medallion with the virgin Mary.

Fia

I created this piece after reading a book that my dear friend wrote about a Selkie named Fia.  A Selkie is a seal that can shed her skin and turn into a human.  There are many legends and stories about Selkie's skins being stolen while they were in human form.  If this happens, they are bound to the person who stole their skin.  This story is about a sweet little Selkie child whose skin has been stolen.  The big agate at the bottom reminded me so much of the ocean and Fia's longing for the ocean.  I don't want to give away the story, but each part of this piece embodies pieces of the story, from the ocean piece to the Selkie skin to the rocks to the teardrops.  My favorite are the large, grey, luminescent beads that remind me so much of Selkie skin.

For the love of Bethany

Something New

So this is me trying out something new.  Meditation Beads.  These ones are my very first attempt.  I wanted to make anger beads.  Something that would help me release the anger that festers inside of me.  I wanted them to be disjointed and rough.  To me black and red really represent anger.  I like the splashes of red and how they remind me of how I see red when I get really angry.  Or the beads that almost look like blood droplets.  This I think is a work in progress but I wanted to finish something and try everything out.  Stay tuned for more.
