I made this piece for my daughter Bethany's birth mom. I wanted to give her something to hold and touch as she thinks about Bethany. She has told me over the years that she deals with a lot of grief from placing her child with us but that she also has a lot of joy from the friendship that we've built and knowing her daughter has a good life. I originally planned to put a mix of sorrow and joy in these beads but as I strung the beads the only thing that came out was joy. A butterfly has always symbolized Bethany to her so I used the butterfly and lots of sparkly, lovely girl colors. The heart at the top symbolizes the ultimate love that Shona had for her daughter and the love that she and I share as mothers of this wonderful little girl.I made this piece for my daughter Bethany's birth mom.
